Cooking in the Classroom

This past week our classroom had so much fun making their morning snack- baked sweet potato fries! We gathered on the carpet for morning group and waited patiently for the lesson to begin.


We began by scrubbing the extra-large sweet potato. After that, the potato was washed and peeled. We then sliced the potato into thin strips, just like French fries. We counted the strips as we placed them in the bowl- 44 in total. Once the strips were placed into the bowl we coated them with canola oil, salt, and pepper.


We all took a turn stirring the mix and then laid them out on a baking sheet. Half an hour later they were ready to eat; they were delicious! Not a fry left on the plate.
