Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!

A few weeks ago our classroom was excited to find a flying bug in our classroom. We were able

to capture the bug when it landed on one of our friends. The bug, we discovered, was a Brown Marmorated Stink Bug. We put it in a bug friendly container and examined it with our magnifying glass.

Later that day, one of our seedlings noticed a spider crawling on a curtain. We used our new bug- magnifying container to capture it and passed the bugs around at group time in the morning. We were thrilled to have two bugs living on our nature table!

When we came into school the following day, one of our friends brought in a butterfly. We learned that it was an Eastern Black Swallowtail. The seedlings really enjoyed looking it and were able to feed the butterfly! We gave the butterfly a strawberry to munch on throughout the day. Who would have thought, at this time of year, that we would be learning all about bugs?
