Similar to the Spruce classroom, this program is for 3 - 6 year old children and includes the full Montessori curriculum for full-timers and a strong literacy program, extensive cultural themes, science and seasonal explorations. This program also offers part-time schedules.
Schedule
We offer part time options 3 and 4 mornings (8:30 – 12:15) or 3, 4 or 5 extended days
(8:30 – 3:30) per week. The 3-day choice is Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday or
Monday/Wednesday/Friday and the 4-day choice is Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday.
Ages
A 3 - 6 year old may be appropriately placed in either the 3, 4 or 5-day
schedule. A 4 year old who turns 5 by October 15th of the following school year can successfully progress to Kindergarten if developmentally ready.
Class Size
Maximum 24 children in the morning. In the afternoon group size
ranges from 14 - 18. Monday and Friday has a smaller group.
Ratio
Approximate 8:1 ratio with 2-3 teachers depending on exact enrollment.
Classroom, Circle Time & Curriculum
Children make work choices from the 12 Learning Centers (Language, Math, Science, Geography, Cultural, Art Studio, Art Theory, Practical Life, History, Sensorial, Peace Corner, Music) plus 2 or 3 new whole group lessons are presented each day. As well, children benefit from small group and individual lessons.
