Jr./Sr. Kindergarten - A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words… In A Montessori Classroom

The start of a new school year is such a special time. Excitement is in the air as children arrive to meet new teachers and new classmates. Some return to familiar classrooms, others explore new environments. New friendships are formed and old friendships are rekindled as children gather together on the playground to play.

Our Kindergarten classroom has been a beehive of activity since day one! I realized, as I sat to write our second blog, that words sometimes fail to accurately describe the magic that happens in a Montessori classroom. Pictures, however, capture the focus, joy, and love of learning that our students experience during their uninterrupted work times. Please enjoy a little window into our day at Pine Grove School.

Click on the image below to see it's description:

"The little child’s first movements were instinctive. Now, he acts consciously and voluntarily, and with this comes an awakening of his spirit…. Conscious will is a power which develops with use and activity. We must aim at cultivating the will…. Its development is a slow process that evolves through a continuous activity in relationship with the environment."
